Smiles are important, and we know that better than anyone. Our smile experts love to make sure our patients have the kind of beautiful smile that radiates confidence and beauty, and we are in the business of making that happen through dental implants. The purpose of a dental implant is to replace a lost or missing tooth. This could happen due to several different reasons, from sports accidents to car accidents to other health issues that might cause a tooth to become lost or go missing.
When your smile is not perfect, it causes a number of unfortunate side effects. Not only do you have a missing tooth that is likely missing due to an unfortunate accident or health problem, you now have to hide your smile and not present the full extent of your happiness to the world. It’s something that happens to people all the time, and they opt for dental implants to fix their imperfections and return their naturally beautiful smile to its former glory.
The simple truth is that you probably know many people with dental implants, you simply have no idea that they actually have them. Anyone with a missing tooth, with dentures that do not feel comfortable in their mouth, with partial dentures that are removable and even with other teeth that are not quite intact might choose to receive dental implants. If you are in any way dissatisfied with your smile for any of the above reasons, Vestal Dental Associates can help you change your level of confidence and your own perception of beauty.
The way that we handle dental implants in our offices is the same way they are handled everywhere else. The main difference is that we take it upon ourselves to make sure our patients are always happy with the results of their work and that we talk you through the process from the beginning until the end. We want you to be comfortable with the work you are having done, and that is what makes us different from other dental offices.
Our dental implants work quite simply. We take a dental implant post and place it into the patient’s upper and lower jaw bone. This post works as a root does on a missing tooth, holding the tooth in place and allowing it to work as it would if the tooth were your own natural tooth. We use only titanium implants as they are so widely accepted by the body, yet they are also strong and lightweight.
Probably the biggest question our patients have is what is involved with getting dental implants. It’s a fair question. This is an oral surgery that you should ask questions about and feel comfortable with, which is why we want our patients to know we are here to answer any questions at any time.
The first step is a consultation with one of our dental professionals. We have to come up with a specialized treatment plan for you and your mouth, and one that we are all comfortable with. Once the plan is in place and your specific dental needs have been addressed, we fit you for the dental implants you’re receiving. We then place the dental implant into the socket with the missing tooth and wait for it to heal. The process of healing can take up to 3 months depending on your overall health and the number of implants being put into the mouth.
Once this has happened, the new tooth is ready to go into place. This requires our dental associates to make a mold of your existing teeth and create a pattern so that your new teeth can be correctly fitted and molded to your mouth. What goes into your mouth now is a crown, which is much like any other crown. The only difference is that this one is now attached to the dental implant in your jaw bones.
At Vestal Dental Associates, we take great care to match your new teeth to your old ones to make them as natural looking as possible. Our goal is to give you a natural smile with beautiful teeth that look as if they belong in your mouth and not like they’ve been placed there.
The process of obtaining dental implants is a long one, so there is no time to wait before we get started fitting you with the smile of your dreams.
